Blooming and warm Uzbekistan
In Uzbekistan perfectly preserved relics from the days when Central Asia was the center of a great empire of Tamerlane. During this period, as it is known, spheres of education and trade were dynamically developing. Modern cities of Uzbekistan including Samarkand, Shakhrisabz, Bukhara, Khiva and Tashkent are symbols of oriental beauty and mystery.
Upon arrival in Uzbekistan, you are transported into a blooming and warm Tashkent, filled with bright sun, shining from clear heaven. The city is clean, well maintained, very green, and rightly so.
Tashkent is a modern metropolis. One cannot deny a shared artistic value of the city as an object of modern urban planning. Antiquities are skillfully woven into the colorful fabric of the vast metropolis, modern architecture patterns are made in national style, and even the structures of the time of "victorious socialism" look very organic.
But the real gem of the city are its colorful bazaars. The best one considered Chorsu bazaar, existing since the times of the Great Silk Road. What is there just is not: vegetables, fruits, pickles, dried fruit, but also the concentration of colorful rural incredible characters, they sell everything. Huge stalls of famous Uzbek melons, and the taste is incredibly amazing! Best melons are called "torpedo" which have an oblong form. Their delicate flesh melts in your mouth and in your hands, incredibly sweet juice flows on fingers, dripping on the ground and freezes there sugar dots. It is true ambrosia instead of melon! By the way, in Uzbekistan there is dry melon pulp - an incredibly sweet and delicious product.
Endless rows of herbs and spices exude intoxicating spicy aroma, without them it is impossible to prepare any one authentic Uzbek dish. Vendors in skullcaps friendly treat their goods, passing through the ranks, and you cannot eat lunch. Everybody remembers the famous words: "Tashkent - City of Bread", and it is absolutely true. Tourists are attracted smells of fresh Uzbek cakes from tandyr (Uzbek clay stove) and stunningly delicious shashlik. On the ground around stoves with cauldrons are arranged, they are preparing a major Uzbek brand - pilaf. In large kettle oil, lamb, carrots, onions, spices, and then the soaked rice are poured. A cook with a skimmer draws a ready pilaf and tosses it up high. The rise in the "correct" pilaf flies and drops down separately. It is an interesting spectacle. A cook with artistic skill catches rice with a slotted spoon and generously throws it on the plates of eaters. Yum. After a meal there is a rule to drink green tea from beautiful painted bowls. The Uzbeks can sit for hours doing this. It is necessary to go to the bazaar to sip with interest the Uzbek flavor.
And here is the pearl of the Uzbek architecture - Samarkand, it is nearly 3000 years old - the same age as Rome and Babylon. Having taken a tour here , you will not regret it. Without the hassle you will visit Registan, Bibi Khanum Mosque (XIV-XV centuries.) Shahi Zinda Complex (XI-XIX centuries.), Ulugbek Observatory (XV century).
The famous Tamerlane was buried in Gur Emir mausoleum (XV century). Before the war, it was decided to open his sarcophagus, but the Uzbek elders pleaded not to do it, and do not let the rebellious spirit of the great conqueror from the grave. They threatened scientists terrible troubles. On the day when the grave was opened, the Great Patriotic War started. It was a revenge for the desecration of the spirit of Tamerlane over his grave. Much later, on Stalin's order the remains of a great warrior were returned to the place, and once the Soviet troops have won a pivotal victory at Stalingrad.
Then you wander through the most elegant area of the city - the Registan and admire three stunningly beautiful Ulugbek Madrasah (XV), Madrasah Tillya Kori (XVII) and Madrasah Sherdar (XVII). Blue domes on a blue sky, tall minarets, giant facades, richly inlaid with predominantly blue mosaics - all makes a striking impression.
And then you can visit Bukhara, much further then Samarkand. Here you will get great Impressions. Bukhara seems even more ancient and authentic, of olden spirit is felt even more.
After all, in your hometown you will return full of impressions, emotions, and with lots of delicious goodies.
